Thanksgiving Flowers

As we enjoy Thanksgiving and express appreciation and gratitude, I want to thank family, friends, clients and readers for your support. Writing this blog has allowed me to connect with you on many topics. From antiquing to decorating to gardening, I have enjoyed sharing my point of view, and I cherish your visits and feedback.

To celebrate this special time of gathering, I created a couple of seasonal arrangements using my favorite antique brown-and-white transferware pieces, dried flowers, and preserved foliage. Many thanks to my friend Ellen Seagraves for finding such unique floral items. Ellen, whose work I've featured here, is a fabulous florist.

Have a wonderful and warm Thanksgiving!
Cheers,
Loi
 A bouquet of dried limelight hydrangeas, alliums, eucalyptus silver bell pods, artemisia, and grevillea leaves in a favorite brown-and-white transferware pitcher. The hydrangeas and alliums are from my garden.
 In this small brown-and-white transferware vase are dried cream pepper berries and bunny tail grass.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

    And nuts and apples gathered in,
    And cornstalks waiting for the cows,

    The fields are brown, and autumn flies;
    Thanksgiving Day is very near,
    And we must make thanksgiving pies!" ....:)

  37. loving the sepia loveliness and serenity here. i'll take these neutral arrangements any day over bright oranges and yellows that overstimulate and bring out the worst in me. hope your thanksgiving is a special one.

  38. These are beautiful arrangements, Loi. It's easy to overlook the flowers in the garden that have passed their primes but they still have beautiful shapes and textures long after their color has gone. The allium are especially wonderful in this state and look great in the brown transferware.

    I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  54. So happy for you! Midcoast Maine is as close to heaven on earth as it gets! We've docked in Castine many times. I've eaten my fair share of fish n' chips and ice cream there! {We boat over from Rockport Harbor.} I can't wait to see what you do with the house! Maybe this means I'll get to say hello in person one of these summers!
